With the Hero 11 Black, GoPro has made a significant improvement to its battery life.
The Enduro battery is included with your purchase of Hero 11 Black.
You can also purchase it as an upgrade over the standard batteries for Hero 10 and Hero 9 Black to enhance their performance.
In this post, we discuss everything about GoPro Hero 11 battery – its battery specs, where you can buy extra batteries, how long you can film, and also some useful tips on how to improve the battery life of your HERO 11 Black.
GoPro Hero 11 Battery
The GoPro Hero 11 Black boasts an advanced 1720mAh lithium-ion battery. What’s so special about this battery is that it boosts camera performance over standard GoPro batteries across a wide temperature range.
Although the HERO 11 supports the same Enduro battery of HERO 9 and 10, with the same capacity of 1,720mAh, GoPro claims that on HERO 11 recording time extends by up to 38% in moderate temperatures over previous GoPro cameras and batteries.

- Dramatically improves cold-weather performance in temperatures down to 14°F (-10°C)
The GoPro Enduro battery features technology that helps maximize the performance of your action camera even in extremely cold weather conditions – down to 14°F (-10°C). As a result, you get significantly longer runtimes and dramatically improved cold-weather performance when compared to standard GoPro batteries. It also offers up to 13% faster charging rate than standard GoPro batteries

Tips to Extend GoPro Hero 11 Battery Life
Even though the Hero 11 battery performs quite well, you can still follow this simple tips to save some power:
Keep the GoPro Off When Not Recording
It’s a no-brainer, actually! Keeping your GoPro off when not recording will check the battery drain. Therefore, you should always make it a point to keep the Hero 11 off when not in use.
Keep Your Batteries Warm in Cold Weather
Even if there’s a huge improvement in the cold weather performance on the Enduro battery that Hero 11 features, you should still consider putting it in the inside zippered pocket of your jacket to keep it warm when the camera is not in use. After all, it’s still a lithium-ion battery.
Turn Off the LCD Screen
Again, a known fact – if the LCD screen of your action camera is ON, it will use more power. So, to extend its battery life, you may consider going back to the old-fashioned way of not using its LCD screen. I especially recommend it when you’re running out of juice but still have quite a bit left to shoot.
Update the Firmware
With each firmware update, GoPro comes up with many minor fixes. A few of these fixes may help improve the overall battery performance of your Hero 11 Black. So, you should always keep the firmware of your GoPro Hero 11 updated.
Don’t use the Extra Settings (WiFi, GPS, Voice Control)
Turning off the extra settings like WiFi, GPS, voice control, etc. if you don’t need them. It can help boost the overall battery life of your Hero 11.
Reduce the Recording Resolution or Frame Rate
As I’ve already enlisted above in the ‘How Long Can You Film?’ section, lower resolution or frame rate leads to an increase in recording time. That’s because, when you record in lower resolution or frame rate, your GoPro uses lesser power. So, if you reduce the recording resolution or frame rate of your Hero 11, it will boost the camera’s battery life.

Bring along Extra Batteries
If you really want to shoot with your GoPro for extended durations, you should consider buying an extra battery or two, depending upon your recording time. This will help you double or triple the run time of your GoPro Hero 11.

Are GoPro Hero 10 and 11 Batteries The Same?
Can GoPro 11 Record While Charging?
Yes, the GoPro Hero 11 can record while charging. By doing this, the power is drawn directly from the power source rather than the battery. It’s important to note that the battery won’t continue charging while this is happening.
This feature is useful when you need extended recording time or want to use your GoPro as a webcam, for instance. To record while charging, simply connect your GoPro to a power source using a USB-C cable. Make sure the cable and the power source can provide sufficient power to keep the camera running and charging at the same time.
Please note that using your GoPro while it’s charging can generate heat, so it’s essential to ensure proper ventilation to prevent overheating. It’s also a good idea to use a high-quality, reliable power source and USB-C cable to ensure stable power delivery and avoid potential damage to your camera.

Last Word Of Advice
If you still feel the need to increase your GoPro Hero 11 battery life, follow the above-mentioned tips, which will help you save some battery power. However, if you need to shoot for a longer time without worrying about changing your batteries, then I strongly recommend you stock up on GoPro batteries. If you are a casual user, 3 batteries should be enough for a full day of shooting.
The following battery kit is super convenient when I’m shooting on a location and I need to quickly charge multiple batteries at the same time. It includes a USB-C charging port, which means that you can connect it to any power bank if you are on the go.
- Optimizes charging so you’ll get a fully charged battery as quickly as possible
- Dual LED lights display charging status of both batteries
- Works with Enduro and standard GoPro batteries
