How Long for GoPro Battery to Charge
The length of time it takes to charge a GoPro depends on two main factors:
- Battery Health
- Power Source
If the battery is older, it may take longer to charge compared to a newer one. If you use a low-current power source, like a computer’s USB port, it can take up to 4 hours to fully charge the GoPro. However, if you use a standard wall charger, the GoPro can be fully charged in about 2 hours. Charging is usually the fastest in the beginning, with the initial 80% completed in around an hour. For newer GoPro models that use a USB-C cable, fast charging is supported. When plugged into a high-current USB port, it can charge up to 70% faster.
There are two main ways to charge a GoPro camera’s battery.

Charge the battery while it’s inside the camera

- Wait for the red light to turn off. If you only see charging bars on the front screen, you may have left the camera on, which will slow down the charging process.
- If you’re using HERO5 models, the quickest in-camera charging is done with a high-current USB-C port like the ones on GoPro’s SuperCharger.
Charge the battery using a battery charger
- Remove the battery from the camera.
- Use a multi-slot battery charger to charge multiple batteries at once.
- Connect the charger to any USB port. For faster charging, use it with GoPro SuperCharger (international dual port).
- For recent Black models (HERO10, HERO9, HERO8, HERO7, HERO6, and HERO6 Black), use GoPro’s USB-C Dual-Port Battery Charger with a high-current USB-C port like those on the GoPro SuperCharger for faster charging.

To charge GoPros with non-removable batteries
Follow the below steps to charge GoPros whose battery can not be removed.
