Key Differences Explained
Listed below are the key differences between the DJI Osmo Action vs GoPro Hero 8 Black cameras:
Design
The DJI Osmo Action 3 is 110 grams in weight and measures 2.78 x 1.74 x 1.29 inches whereas, the GoPro Hero 11 Black weighs 153 grams and its dimensions are 2.64 x 1.34 x 1.85 inches. Both models are Black.
DJI Action 3 has a classic modular look with dual touchscreens. One on the front and the other on the back of the camera. It is waterproof up to 16m. The extent to which it can submerge in water and work well gives serious competition to the other models in the market. It features a brilliant quick-release design for easy horizontal and vertical mounting. And an added improvement to this model is the Invisistick which digitally removes the selfie stick, creating a 3rd person view (works only in the snow).
GoPro Hero Black 11 has almost a similar design as its predecessor. The signature GoPro look has been retained. With dual touchscreen on front and back, the battery compartment, USB-C port, and micro-SD slot remain as they were in Hero 10. This model is waterproof up to 10m and comes with a replaceable hydrophobic lens cover. The main difference in mounting is that the Hero 11 has built-in fold-out mounting tabs. Unlike in Action 3 where magnetic clips or a frame are required for mounting the camera with accessories.
Interface
GoPro Hero 11 comes with a simplified user interface for beginners though the core UI is the same. With Easy Mode Active, the camera narrows down the settings for you and all you have to do is, choose your FOV, select slo-mo (if required) and start recording. Switching between Photo, Video, and Timelapse is extremely simple. DJI Osmo Action 3 has a smooth and simple UI with large icons that make interaction intuitive.

Resolution
GoPro Hero 11 takes the limelight when comes to Resolution, though it has a bigger price tag as well. DJI Osmo Action 3 can shoot up to a maximum of 4K resolution and drops down to 1080p @ 240fps. DJI is a much-preferred option when shooting indoors or in low-light conditions. It can shoot a 16-minute 30-second 4K clip at 60fps continuously.
GoPro Hero 11 can shoot videos up to 5.3K resolution, and 2.7K @ 240 fps. It can also shoot in SuperView at 4K 120 fps whereas, DJI is restricted to Wide or Standard in this mode. The Hero 11’s upgraded sensor offering full-frame shooting styles allows you to choose between a 16:9, 9:16, or 4:3 aspect ratio. This feature is absent in DJI. Hero 11 is a preferred option when comes to shooting in bright light conditions. It can shoot 10 minutes longer than DJI at the same resolution (4K60).
Stabilization
Allowing a 360-degree horizon-locking, both cameras are great when comes to stability. While DJI can do it at 2.7K 60 fps, the Hero 11 offers it at a whopping 5.3K 30 fps. With Action 3 featuring RockSteady 3.0 stabilization system and Hero 11 Black with HyperSmooth 5.0, it is difficult to say which one is better. They both offer top-notch Image Stabilization.
An upside to GoPro Hero 11 Black is that it is compatible with ReelSteady and GyroFlow for adding stabilization in post-production which is absent in DJI Action 3. So, if we talk about stability, Hero 11 is a tad bit better than the other.
