Here are those helpful GoPro Hero 11 tips & tricks for better video quality:

Use Mount(s)

Depending upon your own use case, buy a GoPro Hero 11 compatible mount that’s best for your needs. When it comes to versatility, I trust the GoPro’s 3-Way mount the most. It’s a multipurpose 3-in-1 mount that can be used as a camera grip, extension arm, or tripod. This GoPro mount will cover most of your necessities, such as clicking selfies, underwater photography, and shooting beautiful night shots/time-lapses using the tripod.

Use a Gimbal for Smoother Shots

Although the HyperSmooth 5.0 does a pretty great job of stabilizing your GoPro Hero 11 footage, a good gimbal can still really help in creating even smoother shots. This is especially true in scenarios where your camera will be very rapidly on the move, like while skiing or rafting. There are several gimbals out on the market that vary in price. For your GoPro Hero 11 black, my favorite is the Hohem iSteady Pro 4 gimbal. It creates a super smooth video with 3-axis stabilization and is fully compatible with the GoPro Hero 11 Black.

Tips for Better Underwater Photography

Here are some tips for capturing epic shots using your GoPro Hero 11 camera while you’re underwater for scuba diving or snorkeling:

      1. Use Red Filters

Red filters enhance the quality of your underwater GoPro Hero 11 footage by bringing back the reds that are lost as you dive deep into the ocean. There are three different kinds of red filters:

    • Light Red filter (for color correction in clear freshwater at shallow depth: 2-15ft),
    • Red Filter (for color correction in blue/tropical water at depth: 15-85 ft), and
    • Magenta Filter (for color correction in waters that appear green, like in lakes and reservoirs at depth: 8-75 ft).

I suggest that you use a multi-filter pack with your GoPro so that you can easily change filters as you go in deeper or come back to shallow waters.

Here’s an awesome red filter pack for your GoPro Hero 11 Black:

      2. Best Underwater Setting for GoPro Hero 11 Black:

Before you go underwater for scuba diving, make sure that the following settings are adjusted on your GoPro Hero 11 for quality footage.

    • 1080p Resolution
    • 60 FPS
    • WIDE Lens
    • HyperSmooth ON
    • ISO 400
    • Sharpness High
    • Color – GoPro, Auto White Balance.
    • Turn Screensaver and Auto-Off to Never.

Please note that in case you are diving deep into the water at dark spots, avoid using Hypersmooth as it gives a jello effect in low light. Also, reduce the frame rate to 30 FPS in low light so that the camera is able to capture more light.

Tips for Low-Light Photography

Here are some tips for capturing some amazing low-light shots using your GoPro Hero 11 Black:

      1. Shoot at 24 FPS in Low Light

Shooting in higher frame rates requires good lighting. Therefore, if you are shooting with your Hero 11 Black in a low-light scenario, then shooting at 24 FPS is a great idea. This will allow more light to reach your camera’s sensor. The lower the number, the better your camera will perform in low light.

      2. In Low Light, Shoot Close to the Nearest Light Source

If there is no significant light source nearby, use a flashlight (your phone’s torch light will also do) to improve the lighting.

Tips to Manage GoPro Hero 11 Battery

The GoPro Hero 11 Black boasts 1720mAh lithium-ion Enduro battery. Even though it performs better than previous GoPro battery models, you can still follow some simple tips that will help you save some power:

  1. Turn off the extra settings like WiFi, GPS, voice control, etc. if you don’t need them can help boost the overall battery life of your Hero 11.
  2. Get extra batteries and keep them handy.
  3. Carry an external USB charger in your bag.

All these things will help you manage your GoPro Hero 11 battery better.

Eliminate GoPro Lens Fog

Even with a waterproof case, you still have to worry about moisture. We know that the GoPro Hero 11 Black is a waterproof camera. However, it’s prone to moisture issues. This is especially true when using the camera underwater or in humid environments. GoPro lens fog is a real problem when you use your GoPro with a housing. It can potentially ruin your shots. Therefore, Anti Fog inserts are essential to eliminate lens fog as they absorb moisture.

Here’s the GoPro Anti-Fog Insert that I trust:

Use ND FIlter

Using an ND (neutral density) filter for your GoPro videos can be a useful way to control exposure and achieve a more professional and cinematic look in your footage. ND filters reduce the amount of light that enters the camera’s lens, allowing you to use slower shutter speeds and wider apertures without overexposing your footage. This can be particularly helpful when shooting in bright and sunny conditions or when filming waterfalls, oceans, or other scenes with a lot of moving water or motion blur.

By using an ND filter, you can achieve smoother and more balanced exposures, resulting in more visually appealing and professional-looking footage. Therefore, investing in a high-quality ND filter can be a worthwhile consideration for anyone looking to take their GoPro videos to the next level.
