Use Anti Fog Inserts

When snowboarding in winter, it’s almost certain that the cold air outside will make the moisture condense inside your GoPro’s casing. Therefore, the silica-based anti-fog inserts will be a great addition for absorbing all the humidity inside the case. It will prevent your lens from fogging up and ruining your footage.

Pack Multiple GoPro Mounts

Packing multiple GoPro mounts is always a great idea when you’re heading out for snowboarding with your GoPro. Different mounts help you capture the footage from different angles and perspectives. For example, a head mount or a chest mount are great to shoot amazing POV footage of your snowboarding adventures. However, for GoPro selfie shots while snowboarding, a handheld selfie stick or a 3-way grip are the way to go. That’s why you should pack different mounts to play around with and try different angles while you’re having the time of your life along the snow-laden slopes.

Film Everything, Review Later

When you’re involved in your snow-studded adventure, you obviously wouldn’t want to miss anything. So, don’t be afraid to keep the camera rolling! You can always review the footage later for editing in post-production to make it shareable.

Use Wide FOV

Choosing a Wide FOV for your snowboarding shots is a wonderful idea. It will allow you to shoot the beautiful surroundings without distorting the picture too much.

Shoot at the Appropriate Time

For epic snowboarding shots, I recommend that you try to film when the sun is beside you rather than above you. This usually tends to be early morning or later in the afternoon. During these times, the shadows aren’t too harsh. Therefore, you can keep the snow properly exposed.

Choose the Right Settings

Here are the recommended GoPro settings for some epic snowboarding shots:

Video Settings

  • 4K60, Wide Lens
  • 1080p120, Wide Lens
  • 15x TimeWarp Video

Photo Settings

  • Time Lapse Photo (1-second interval), Wide Lens
  • Burst (30/3 Rate), Wide Lens
