If you own a GoPro or are planning to buy one, you may have wondered – Does GoPro Have HDMI Out?
Actually, it all depends upon the GoPro model. While some GoPro models feature HDMI out port, many others don’t.
In this article, you’ll discover which models support HDMI output and which ones don’t.
You’ll also learn the steps to connect your GoPro to a TV via HDMI-out.
Which GoPro Models Have HDMI Out
Here are the GoPro models which feature an HDMI-Out port built-in:
- GoPro 7 Black
- GoPro Hero (2018)
- GoPro Hero 6 Black
- GoPro Hero 5 Black
- GoPro Hero 4 (Black & Silver)
- GoPro Hero 3+ (Black & Silver)
- GoPro Hero 3 (White, Silver & Black)
- GoPro Hero 2
Having a built-in HDMI port means that these models are capable of providing HDMI output through a direct connection with your TV. You just need to connect one end of the HDMI cable to the TV and the other end to the camera.
Following are the models that are not capable of providing HDMI output through a direct connection:
- GoPro Hero 12
- GoPro Hero 11 (Black and Mini)
- GoPro Hero 10
- GoPro Hero 9
- GoPro Hero 8
- GoPro Hero 7 (White & Silver)
- GoPro Max
- GoPro Hero 5 Session
- GoPro Hero 4 Session
Therefore, in case you have one of these models, you need to save your files to an adapter or USB drive to view your camera content on your TV.
Now you must be wondering – what about the latest models: the GoPro Hero 8 Black & later models? The quick answer is: NO! These models don’t have an HDMI-output port built-in.
However, there’s a catch! Although these models don’t sport a built-in HDMI-out port, they do support HDMI out. GoPro has come up with the new dedicated GoPro Media Mods for both these models. The Media Mod adds an HDMI port to the Hero 8, 9,10,11 . So, you simply need to connect the Media Mod to the compatible camera, and then use an HDMI cable to connect the camera to your TV.
