The basic procedure to connect GoPro to a TV requires a Micro HDMI to Standard HDMI cable to connect the GoPro to the TV screen.

Note that NOT all GoPro camera models have an HDMI out (Hero 12, 11, 10, 9 and 8 for instance). If that’s your case, then you need the to get a GoPro accessory called GoPro Media Mod which has an HDMI output that you can use.

GoPro models with HDMI Out

Most models including GoPro HERO (4,5,6,7) Black and HERO4 Silver DO have built-in HDMI ports.

GoPro HERO Session, and HERO 7 (White and Silver ONLY) do NOT have built-in HDMI ports, therefore these camera models can NOT be connected to a TV unfortunately.

Similarly, the same can be done for HERO Max as it does NOT support HDMI output through a direct connection. You can save your files to an adapter or USB drive that is compatible with your TV.

In order to connect  the GoPro HERO8 and GoPro Hero 9 to your TV screen, you need a Media Mod accessory. Media Mod has two cold-shoe mounts, a micro-HDMI port output and a 3.5mm audio input.

Neither GOPro Hero 11 and Hero 10 have HDMI support. To link the GoPro HERO11 with your television, the Media Mod attachment is required.

How to Connect GoPro to TV: 4 Steps

Assuming that you’ve got a GoPro camera model with a micro-HDMI out port or a Media Mod, then just follow these 4 simple steps:

  1. Before starting the process, make sure your GoPro is turned OFF.

GoPro HERO 4 Silver and Black have built in HDMI ports, but HERO 4 Session does not. It has a Micro USB port.

Similarly, The HERO 5 Session only has a USB-C port. It does not have an HDMI port, but HERO 5, 6 Black do.
The HERO 7 Black has an HDMI port whereas, White and the Silver do not.

Can I hook my GoPro to my TV?
