Osmo Pocket Wireless Module

In addition to providing Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection between Osmo Pocket and your mobile device, the Wireless Module also serves as a base to set Osmo Pocket on level surfaces. It features a USB-C connection that goes into the gimbal’s USB-C port, thus drawing energy from Osmo Pocket’s battery. When it’s powered up, you’ll see a small red light on it, which turns green when the module is connected to a smartphone. At the back, there’s a USB-C port to connect the gimbal to the power supply.

However, please note that you can not connect a mic via this port. It’s only for charging.

Pairing the Wireless Module to a smartphone is highly convenient via the DJI Mimo app. The app lets you quickly control the Osmo Pocket remotely. It can perform several functions, including adjustment of the camera angle or changing settings. What’s more, using the app, you can also download videos and stills to your phone without making a hard connection.

Using the DJI Osmo Pocket Wireless (Wi-Fi) Module is very easy. But, you need to turn on both Bluetooth and WiFi on your mobile phone to make it work. Bluetooth lets you identify the device and wifi lets you connect to the wireless module. You can choose between 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz connections. It feels really great how you can capture shots from so many angles and move the gimbal from your phone seamlessly.

 

Should You Buy the Osmo Pocket Wi-Fi Module?

The Wireless Module is definitely a great accessory for the Osmo Pocket. The only minor disappointment of this accessory is that there’s no way to connect a wireless microphone via the USB-C port featured on it.

Hopefully, DJI will listen and come up with a workaround regarding this. So, you should consider buying it if you like the idea of being able to effectively control your Osmo Pocket with your mobile phone.

But there’s one more thing that you may consider. This wireless module also comes as a part of an Expansion Kit (for Osmo Pocket) by DJI.

Along with the Wireless Module, the kit also includes some really useful accessories, including a Controller Wheel, an Accessory Mount Adapter, and a 32GB Samsung microSD card.

And the good news is that the whole kit comes for significantly less than the combined separate prices of the Controller Wheel and Wireless Module.
