Note : You can change only the password, not the camera name.

GoPro HERO 5 Session

To reset the WiFi password for Hero 5 Session, follow the below steps. The process is slightly different from the others.

  1. Power off your camera.
  2. Press the menu button to access the status screen.
  3. Repeatedly press the Menu button to go to ‘Connection Settings‘.
  4. Press the shutter button to select it.
  5. Again, press the menu button repeatedly until you see ‘Reset Connections
  6. Press the shutter button to select it.
  7. Press the menu button to choose the option ‘Yes‘ and shutter button to select it.
  8. A confirmation will appear that ‘the WiFi was reset successfully’. Use the default.

GoPro HERO 4 (Black & Silver)

To reset the WiFi password for Hero 4 Black and Silver, follow the below steps :

  1. Power on the camera, press and hold the Settings button (on the side) until the Wi-Fi Mode options appear.
  2. While still holding the side button, press and release the Mode button.
  3. Select Reset in the Reset Wi-Fi Settings option.

GoPro HERO 4 (Session) & HERO Session

To reset the WiFi password for Hero 4 Session, Hero Session follow the below steps :

  1. Turn the camera off.
  2. Press and hold the WiFi button for 8-10 seconds until  ‘Reset WiFi’ appears.
  3. Press the WiFi button to highlight the option ‘Yes’.
  4. Press the shutter button to select it.
  5. A new name and password can now be entered.

The GoPro models before Hero 4 came with a default password “goprohero”. Provided you have not changed the camera name or WiFi password before, you may try it in case of resetting. Else, you will need to reset the Wi-Fi credentials to another a name and password.

The camera name and password are hard-coded and don’t change when you reset the connections. But, when you pair it to the GoPro app, you have the option to change the camera name (all except in Hero (2018) and Hero 5). GoPro Hero 8 Black / MAX

To locate the existing camera name and password on Hero8 Black / MAX:
