In this article, you’ll learn how to find your lost GoPro name and password and reset GoPro WiFi password.

 

How to Reset GoPro Wi-Fi Name and Password


This article describes how to reset the camera’s Wi-Fi name and password.

GoPro HERO 12 Black, 11 Black, HERO 10 Black and GoPro HERO 9 Black

Here’s how to reset the WiFi name and password of the GoPro HERO 12 Black, HERO 11 Black, HERO 10 Black and HERO 9 Black:

  1. Swipe down to access the Dashboard.
  2. Swipe right to left to access [Preferences].
  3. Tap [Preferences] > [Connections] > [Reset Connections].

You will now have a new name and password that is created by the camera.

GoPro HERO 8 Black / Max

Here’s how to reset the WiFi name and password of the GoPro HERO 8 Black / Max

  1. Swipe down to access the Dashboard.
  2. Tap [Preferences] > [Connections] > [Reset Connections].

You will now have a new name and password that is created by the camera.

GoPro HERO 7 Cameras

If you want to reset the WiFi name and password of the GoPro HERO 7 cameras – the HERO 7 Black, Silver & White, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the main screen.
  2. Swipe down.
  3. Tap Preferences > Connections > Reset Connections.

You will now have a new name and password that is created by the camera. It will be displayed on the screen.

You can also change the GoPro HERO7 camera name. On the GoPro, go to Preferences > Connections > Connect New. Then, launch the GoPro app on your smartphone and tap Find My Camera. The app will auto-detect the camera. In case it doesn’t, tap Add Manually and choose your model from the list. Once the camera is paired to the GoPro app, you can change the camera name.

GoPro HERO 6 Black

To reset the WiFi credentials and reset the connections on the GoPro Hero 6 Black, you need to follow the below steps:

  1. From the main screen, swipe down.
  2. Tap [Connect] > [Reset Connections], and then tap [Reset]

That’s how easy it is to have a new password that is created by the camera. If, after resetting the connections, you want to change the camera name to something of your own choice, you can do so by using the GoPro Quik app.

GoPro Fusion

Given below are the steps to reset WiFi on GoPro Fusion:

  1. Press the Mode button (side) to power on your camera
  2. Push the Mode button repeatedly until the Settings icon (wrench) appears; press the Shutter button (front) to enter Settings
  3. Press the Shutter button three times to bring up the Connections settings
  4. Push the Mode button repeatedly, until [RESET] is highlighted, then press the Shutter button to select
  5. Press the Mode button to highlight [RESET], then press the Shutter button to confirm and reset the camera’s connections

You will now have a new name and password that is created by the camera.

GoPro HERO 5 Black

Please note that the camera name cannot be altered on HERO5 Black. You can only reset the WiFi password of the camera. Here are the steps to reset the WiFi name and password of the GoPro HERO5 Black:

  1. From the main screen, swipe down
  2. Tap [Connect] > [Reset Connections], and then tap [Reset]

You will now have a new password that is created by the camera.

GoPro HERO 5 Session

Here are the steps to reset WiFi credentials on the GoPro HERO 5 Session:

  1. With your camera off, press the Menu button to turn on the status screen.
  2. Press the Menu button repeatedly until you get to [Connections Settings].
  3. Press the Shutter button to select [Connections Settings].
  4. Press the Menu button repeatedly until you get to [Reset Connections].
  5. Press the Shutter button to select [Reset Connections].
  6. Press the Menu button to navigate to [Yes].
  7. Press the Shutter button to select [Yes].
  8. [Wi-fi Reset Successful] will appear on the status screen.

That’s how you change the WiFi name and password of your GoPro HERO 5 Session.

GoPro HERO (2018)

There’s no way to alter the camera name on HERO (2018). You can only reset the wifi password by following three simple steps.

To reset the WiFi password on the GoPro HERO (2018), firstly swipe down from the main screen. Then, Tap [Connect] > [Reset Connections], and then tap [Reset]. This will reset the WiFi password of the camera and you’ll now have a new, camera-generated password.

GoPro HERO 4

HERO4 cameras allow you to easily reset the camera Wi-Fi settings from the camera itself. Follow these steps:
With the camera ON, Press and hold both the Settings button (on the side) for 2-3 seconds.
While still holding the side button, press and release the Power/Mode button (front).
Select Reset in the ‘Reset Wi-Fi Settings’ option.

GoPro HERO 3+

The default Wi-Fi password for your HERO3 camera is “goprohero”.

Alternately you can change your camera Wi-Fi name and Wi-Fi password when you update your camera’s software. If your camera’s software is already up-to-date, but you wish to change the camera’s name and password, you’ll need to re-update your software. To re-update your camera’s software, you’ll need to disable Java in your web browser. Here’s a link that shows you how to disable Java in some popular web browsers. Then you should update the camera software once again.

Password Requirement

Your password must be at least 8 characters. It can contain the following characters: Lower and upper-case letters, numbers 0-9, at symbol “@”, dash “-“, and underscore “_”.

GoPro HERO 3

The default Wi-Fi password for your HERO3 camera is “goprohero”. You can change your camera Wi-Fi name and Wi-Fi password when you update your camera’s software. If your camera’s software is already up-to-date, but you wish to change the camera’s name and password, you’ll need to re-update your software. To re-update your camera’s software, you’ll need to disable Java in your web browser. Here’s a link that shows you how to disable Java in some popular web browsers. Then you need to re-update your camera’s software.

GoPro HD HERO and GoPro HD HERO 2

The default password for your Wi-Fi BacPac is “goprohero”. You can change your Wi-Fi BacPac’s name and password in CineForm Studio at any time. Open CineForm Studio and connect the Wi-Fi BacPac to your computer. You’ll see the Wi-Fi BacPac listed in the Device Window. Click CONFIGURE to change your name and password.

Password Requirement

Your password must be at least 8 characters. It can contain the following characters: Lower and upper-case letters, numbers 0-9, at symbol “@”, dash “-“, and underscore “_”.

How to Find Lost GoPro Name & Password


The camera name and password are hard-coded and don’t change when you reset the connections. But, when you pair it to the GoPro app, you have the option to change the camera name (all except in Hero (2018) and Hero 5). However, you can find the existing GoPro Password for different GoPro models as below:

GoPro Hero 12 Black/ 11 Black / 10 Black / 9 Black

If you’ve lost the name and password for your GoPro, you can easily reset them by following these steps:

  1. Turn on your GoPro camera and swipe down from the top of the screen to access the dashboard.
  2. Tap on the “Preferences” icon (the gear-shaped icon).
  3. Scroll down and select “Connections.”
  4. Tap on “Reset Connections.”
  5. A prompt will appear asking if you want to reset your camera’s Wi-Fi name and password. Confirm by tapping “Reset.”

Your GoPro’s Wi-Fi name and password will be reset to their default values. You can now reconnect your camera to the GoPro app or other devices using the new name and password. If you want to customize the name and password, you can do so through the GoPro app on your smartphone.

GoPro Hero 8 Black / MAX

To locate the existing camera name and password on Hero 8 Black / MAX:

  1. Turn on your camera.
  2. Swipe down and select Preferences.
  3. Select Connections.
  4. Then, select Camera Info.
  5. Here you’ll see the camera name and password specific to your camera.

GoPro Hero 7, Hero 6, Hero 5

To locate the existing camera name and password on Hero 7, Hero 6, Hero 5:

  1. Turn on your camera
  2. Swipe down and select Preferences.
  3. Select Connect.
  4. Then select Camera Info.
  5. Here you’ll see the camera name and password specific to your camera.
