Here’s the comparison of the DJI Ronin-S vs Ronin-SC:

Design

Both Ronin-S and Ronin-SC are super-portable and feature a detachable design. This makes both the gimbals very convenient to transport. But, at 1.1 kg, the Ronin-SC weighs significantly lighter. It is also smaller and easier to carry than the Ronin-S, which weighs 1.84 kg. The Ronin-SC is about 41% lighter and 38% smaller than the Ronin-S. That’s why you can easily fit the Ronin SC into a case or a backpack.

Both gimbals are capable of handling temperatures between -20℃ – 45℃. The dimensions of Ronin S are 486mm×202mm×185mm, while the Ronin-SC features slightly smaller dimensions at 370mm×150mm×165mm.

Controls & Functionality

The Ronin-SC has been designed with new 3-Axis locks on the pan, roll, and tilt axis so you don’t have to face the hassle of balancing the camera each time you use it. This also makes transportation of the gimbal much easier. What’s more, you also get a new position lock balance on the Ronin SC, which essentially means that you can remount the camera and start shooting within seconds! Both these features are improvements after DJI considered the feedback they got on the Ronin S gimbal.

In terms of the rotation speed, the Ronin-S features a larger maximum controlled rotation speed of 360°/s on its pan, tilt, and roll axis. The Ronin-SC, on the other hand, features a speed of 180°/s on its pan, tilt, and roll axis. Both units have a controlled rotation range of 360° continuous rotation on their pan axis and ±30° roll axis control. The Ronin-S also features a wider tilt axis control, +180° to -90° (Upright Mode), +90° to -135° (Underslung and Flashlight Mode), whereas the Ronin-SC features a tilt axis control of -90° to 145°.

Payload Capacity

The Ronin-S features a tested payload capacity of up to 3.6 kg, while the Ronin-SC features a slighter lighter payload capacity of up to 2.0 kg. This difference in payload capacity is probably because the Ronin-S is mainly designed for DSLR cameras while the Ronin-SC is designed for mirrorless cameras.
