Full Review

The Osmo Pocket Extension Rod is a super-useful accessory for your Osmo Pocket gimbal. While you may feel that it’s a bit pricey, but it’s totally worth the money. The three things about this extension rod that I’m particularly impressed about are:

  1. The integration of button function.
  2. The compact design when it’s folded.
  3. Ease of manipulation and ergonomics.

First, the fact that you can use the buttons on the grip to control the gimbal is super awesome! The control stick and six buttons let you control the gimbal, track objects, change gimbal modes, and recenter, therefore improving your overall shooting experience. However, please note that to control the gimbal from the Extension Rod’s multiple control buttons, you need to connect the two using a compatible USB cable. Or, you can also use the Osmo Pocket Wireless Module that attaches to the bottom of the gimbal and establishes a connection over Wi-Fi. Both the accessories are sold separately.

The Osmo Pocket Extension Rod is designed to be super-compact when it’s retracted. So, you can carry it around with ease. The built-in phone holder lets you attach your phone to the gimbal. The multiple mounting brackets on the extension rod enable many additional shooting options. If you want a remote control with the extension rod, you need to attach your phone to the phone holder and use a Wireless Module (sold separately) to control Osmo Pocket or DJI Pocket 2.

Lastly, a standard 1/4-inch tripod mount at the bottom allows you to connect the gimbal with many additional accessories.

Important Point to Note

The Osmo Pocket gimbal automatically charges the Extension Rod when connected. The Extension Rod tends to run out of battery if it’s not used for six months or longer. So, if this happens, you should first connect the rod to the Osmo Pocket to charge it.

What’s Special About the Osmo Pocket Extension Rod?

The best part of the Osmo Pocket Extension Rod is its multi-purpose nature. It’s not just your ordinary selfie stick. The extension rod can significantly improve your shooting experience with its ability to control the Osmo Pocket gimbal, track objects, change gimbal modes, and recenter.

So, if you’re looking to seriously upgrade the quality of shots captured through the Osmo Action gimbal, you should definitely consider buying the DJI Osmo Pocket Extension Rod.
