4K Ready Micro SD Card: Specifications
When choosing the best micro SD card for your 4K GoPro camera, you need to keep several things in mind, including: capacity, write speeds, reliability, and cost.
Capacity
Capacity (or card type) includes two options: SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) and SDXC (Secure Digital extended Capacity).
The only difference between the two is the 32GB threshold.
SDHC cards are 32GB and lower in capacity, and SDXC ones are 64GB and above.
We recommend that you use SDXC cards with GoPro simply because anything less than 64GB will fill up pretty quickly if you’re recording 4K videos with your camera.
Speed Class
Now, regarding the write speed or speed class, I’d say that it’s really important to have speedy cards in order to properly capture your videos in high bitrates.
GoPro recommends a minimum of Class 10 micro SD cards.
The newer Class 10 cards also have a UHS (Ultra high Speed) or VSC (Video Speed Class) classification. As long as you use a minimum of UHS-I / V30 cards, you’re sorted!
