If you’re looking to create professional-looking videos from your GoPro footage, the GoPro Studio is a great tool. This GoPro official video editing software lets you perform several functions, like trimming your GoPro footage, adding background music to it, speeding up or slowing down the motion of your footage, compressing large videos, and much more.
The aim of this post is to let you know how to download and install the GoPro Studio app on your Windows 10 PC.
Is GoPro Studio Still Available?
GoPro Studio used to be bundled with the GoPro Quik app for desktop. However, in August 2019, the company announced that GoPro Studio has been discontinued and will no longer be available to download on its official website. It essentially means that if you download the latest version of GoPro Quik, you won’t get GoPro Studio along with it. Also, since GoPro has discontinued GoPro Studio, you won’t be getting any software updates, improvements, or support from the company for this app.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t download the app for your Windows 10 PC. Read on to know how you can download GoPro Studio.
Despite the fact that GoPro Studio has been discontinued, there are still ways to download it for your Windows 10 PC. One option is to search for the installation files on third-party websites, but this comes with the risk of downloading malware or other harmful software.
A safer and more reliable option is to use the original GoPro Studio installer, which can still be found on the official GoPro website. However, it’s important to note that GoPro no longer provides support or updates for this app, so you may encounter compatibility issues or other problems when using it.
Alternatively, there are many other video editing software options available that are compatible with GoPro footage, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve, to name a few. While these options may require a bit more of a learning curve than GoPro Studio, they offer much more advanced features and support for professional-grade video editing.
Download GoPro Studio – Windows 10
While it’s true that GoPro Studio is no longer available for download on the official GoPro website, it’s important to exercise caution when downloading it from third-party sites. While sites like TechSpot, Softonic, and Softpedia are generally reputable, there is still a risk of downloading malware or other harmful software.
Here are the download links:

Many free video editing software options are available, including DaVinci Resolve and Shotcut. While these options may not have all the bells and whistles of more expensive software, they are capable of handling basic editing tasks and offer a good starting point for those new to video editing.
Ultimately, the best option for you will depend on your specific needs and level of expertise. If you’re new to video editing or just need to make simple edits to your GoPro footage, GoPro Quik for desktop is a good option. However, if you need more advanced features or support for professional-grade editing, it’s worth exploring other software options.

How To Edit Videos Using GoPro Studio?
After downloading and installing GoPro Studio on your Windows 10 PC, it’s time to start using it to edit your GoPro videos. Here’s the step-by-step guide on how to edit a video using GoPro Studio:
#1: Import your GoPro videos for editing
First and foremost, you’ll need to open the GoPro App. Once you open it, the GoPro importer will automatically bring all your imported files into a blank GoPro Studio project. If you’re not using a GoPro importer, transfer the content that you wish to edit from your camera’s memory card to your computer. Now, just click import and navigate to the file where your GoPro clips are stored. To save the GoPro project, go to File > Save, choose a location, and name the project as you want. We recommend creating a New Folder on your computer to save the project and all the converted files.
#2: View & Trim
After saving the project, open them on GoPro Studio. You’ll find all the clips you selected on the left side. You can play, review and trim each to ensure that all the best moments that you want to include in the final version are included. This can be done by dragging and dropping the ‘in and ‘out’ points as per your requirements. You can repeat this process with all the selected clips with multiple segments having all those great moments. Additionally, you can do some basic editing like rotating/flipping video, changing resolution, frame rate, playback speed, and quality.
Now, you need to add the roughly trimmed files to the conversion list so that you can start with the editing. For that select the clip and then, go to ‘Add Clip To Conversion List’.
Once you’re satisfied with how each individual footage looks, you need to convert the list of clips by pressing ‘Convert All’. This will convert all the clips and make them ready for editing. Lastly, Press ‘Clear All’ to clear your completed conversions.
When the conversion is completed for all the clips, click on ‘Step 2: Edit’ at the top of the window. All of your converted clips will automatically move to this step. Here you’ll be asked if you want to use a Pre-Made Edit Template or a blank one. Select the template as per your desired theme for the final film. You can do some great editing in this step with features like the ability to add music to the footage, using filters and effects, etc. to make your end result more appealing.
After you’ve successfully created the video as per your expectations, proceed further to export it, so that you can easily share it with your friends and family. Click ‘Step 3: Export’ at the top of the window to do it and choose an export preset (the resolution that you need for the resulting video). You can also directly upload it on YouTube or Vimeo, or save it for watching later on your PC. Finally, name the video file and click export to save it to the desired destination on your desktop.
That’s it! You’ve successfully created a great video of your memorable moments on GoPro Studio.

GoPro Studio for Windows 10 – Review
GoPro Studio lets you add or remove music, trim unwanted sections, create fast or slow motions, add graphics and text, etc. It’s the perfect choice for beginners because it is pretty easy to use. The app isn’t complicated like some other advanced video editing programs.
With GoPro Studio, you can import, trim, edit, and export videos within minutes! Using its advanced features, such as adding background music or further trimming of videos is highly convenient. Plus, you can also create great time-lapse playback sequences of photos as videos with this app. GoPro Studio for Windows provides you with a lot of editing templates to help you edit the videos with good edit points, adding music, titles and music, and even audio tracks on your phone’s library.
However, while GoPro Studio is a practical and easy-to-use & learn software that is free and accessible to everyone, it has only limited & basic features. Professional video editing apps like Adobe Premiere and Final Cut offer much more advanced features.
GoPro Video Editing: 5 Tips for Cinematic Videos
Creating cinematic videos with your GoPro footage is a great way to showcase your adventures and experiences. Here are five tips to help you take your video editing to the next level:
- Use slow motion shots: Slow motion shots can add a cinematic feel to your footage and make your video more dynamic. Experiment with different speeds to find the perfect balance for your footage.
- Choose your music before you start editing: The right music can set the tone for your video and help to tell your story. Choose a soundtrack that fits the mood and pace of your footage before you start editing.
- Use a system for organizing your files: Keep your footage organized by creating a folder system that makes it easy to find your clips. This will save you time and frustration when you’re editing.
- Color grade your footage: Color grading can help to give your footage a more professional look and feel. Experiment with different color grades to find the one that best suits your footage.
- Don’t overuse transitions and effects: While transitions and effects can add visual interest to your video, they can also be distracting if overused. Use them sparingly to avoid detracting from your footage.

Is It Worth Using GoPro Studio on Windows 10?
Before downloading the software, you must take into consideration the fact that GoPro Studio has been discontinued by GoPro. You won’t get any support or updates to the app anymore. So, using an app that won’t ever be updated probably isn’t the best decision. There are plenty of other, much-advanced alternatives to GoPro Studio for Windows 10 in the market that you can consider. My personal favorites are – Adobe Premiere Pro, Filmora Wondershare, and Adobe Premiere Elements.
I’ve personally tried all of these video editors and many more. But, I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit my videos on a regular basis because it offers many useful features, and people develop plugins for them to expand possibilities. Plus, you also get frequent software updates, and there are many free tutorials & guides online to learn more about them.
