Here are the five ways to fix the GoPro Quik app freezing issue:
Ensure that GoPro Quik & Device are Up to Date
Always keep the GoPro Quik app and your device updated with their latest versions. Make sure that you restart your device after GoPro Quik updates.
Force Close and Re-Open
If the freezing issue persists, try force closing the app and then re-opening it. Check to see if the crashing or freezing still occurs.
Force Close Other Apps
Another thing that you can try is force-closing other apps that may be running in the background, but you are not using. This step will let you allocate more memory to GoPro Quik for improved performance.
Re-Pair the GoPro Camera
Sometimes re-pairing the GoPro camera also fixes the Quik app freezing/crashing issue, especially if the GoPro Camera Name has a special character (e.g. ¥, £, ü, etc) in it. In such a case, delete the camera option from the app and re-pair the camera to your device. You’ll be given the chance to rename the camera during the pairing process. Make sure that you don’t use these special characters while re-pairing your GoPro.
For Android Only: Clear the App Cache
In many cases, clearing your app cache can help resolve some general freezing/crashing issues in GoPro Quik.
Here are the steps to clear the GoPro Quik cache on an Android device:
- Open Settings
- Tap the Storage heading to open its settings page. If your phone runs Android Oreo or earlier, you’ll have to open the App Manager settings page.
- Tap the Other Apps heading to see a list of your installed apps.
- Find GoPro Quik and tap its listing.
- Tap the Clear cache button.
For Windows & Mac: Check Minimum System Requirements
In many cases, troubles like the GoPro Quik app freezing or crashing may occur if your system doesn’t meet the minimum requirements. So, check if your Windows or Mac PC meets the minimum system requirements for GoPro Quik.
Minimum System Requirements for Windows:
- Supported Operating System: 64-bit Windows 10 in desktop mode only. 32-bit systems are not supported.
- CPU: Minimum – Intel® Core 2 Duo, Recommended – Intel Quad Core i7 or better
- Graphics Card: Graphics card that supports OpenGL 3.2 or later, Recommended for 4K editing and playback- Intel HD Graphics 4000 or better
- Screen Resolution: Minimum – 1280 x 800, Recommended – 1920×1080
- RAM: 4 GB
- Hard Drive: Minimum – 5400 RPM internal drive, Recommended – 7200 RPM drive or SSD
Minimum System Requirements for Mac:
- Supported Operating System: Mac OS 10.9.X or later
- CPU: Minimum – Intel® Dual-Core, Recommended – Intel Quad Core i7 or better
- Graphics Card: Minimum – Any graphics card shipped with Intel Dual Core Macs or better, Recommended for 4K editing and playback – Intel HD Graphics 4000 or better
- Screen Resolution: 1280 x 768
- RAM: 4 GB
- Hard Drive: Minimum – 5400 RPM internal drive, Recommended – 7200 RPM drive or SSD
