This one is a simple and quick solution to shoot great time lapse videos using your GoPro, without the need of post-production. However, you may have to compromise on the image quality, as the Protune<\/a> option is not available in this setting.<\/p>\n

    Pro Tip: <\/strong>If your GoPro offers 4k resolution<\/strong>, I’d recommend you to use it as it will give you more editing freedom in post-production (you can crop your image without loosing too much quality).<\/p>\n

    Time Lapse Photo<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    In time lapse<\/strong> photo<\/strong> mode, the GoPro captures images at a specifically-timed interval<\/strong> \u2014 for example, once every five seconds \u2014 and gives output in JPEG or RAW image formats. However, you need to download the multiple images and join them together in post-production to get a time lapse video.<\/p>\n

    Choosing the Shooting Interval<\/h3>\n

    You can choose the shooting interval of time lapse, which ranges from one image every 0.5 second up to 60 seconds per frame. For most situations you will find that a 2-second interval<\/strong> works best. However, if your situation requires slower or faster playback speeds then adjust accordingly. Reduce the interval (0.5 or 1 second) and your video will slow down. Increase the interval (5 to 60 seconds) and your video will run faster.<\/p>\n

    Choosing the Shooting Length<\/h3>\n

    The camera settings for shooting length of a time lapse depend on what you want to capture. If it is an action scene like traffic or people walking by, then you need to shoot for at least 10 minutes<\/strong> if you’re using an interval of 2 seconds. This will create a 10-second video clip.<\/p>\n

    For slow moving scenes such as sunsets with beautiful colors fading in front of your eyes over time, make sure that the length is at least 1 hour so that all details can be shown before going into nightfall. A longer interval also means capturing more detail which could include shadows lengthening across streets from buildings along them (which would have been casted otherwise), and children playing out their last moments until dusk sets in.<\/p>\n
