Simply connect your GoPro camera to your computer using a USB cable and transfer the files to a folder on your computer. After the transfer is complete, you can unplug your GoPro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13496 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/themes\/reco\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/copy-file-from-sd.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Download and launch your video editor<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"EditingBody\"><span lang=\"EN-CA\">If you already have Final Cut Pro X or a similar video editing program, launch it. If you&#8217;re just starting out and have yet to find a video editing program that works for you, there are a number of inexpensive and free options available (we recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/filmora.wondershare.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Filmora by Wondershare<\/a>&nbsp;to get your feet wet). But you have to import your raw clips into your library before going on to the next step:&nbsp;Click on &#8216;<strong>File<\/strong>&#8216;&nbsp;<span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\">\u2192<\/span>&nbsp;&#8216;<strong>Import<\/strong>&#8216;&nbsp;<span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;\">\u2192<\/span>&nbsp;&#8216;<strong>Media<\/strong>&#8216;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13535 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/themes\/reco\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/importing-clips-to-timeline-fcpx.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/p>\n<p>With your GoPro clips in your media library, you can now drag and drop each one into your movie\u2019s timeline.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13519 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/themes\/reco\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/inserting-files-into-editing-time-line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><b><span lang=\"EN-CA\">Create your video timeline sequence<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<p>You can sort your placed timeline clips simply by dragging and dropping them wherever you feel they work best. This is how a storyline is established. You can also zoom out to view it in full.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pro Tip:<\/strong> When telling a story through film, try structuring it with a basic \u201cbeginning \u2013 middle \u2013 end\u201d sequence.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13520 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/themes\/reco\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/sorting-videos-in-time-line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Add Sound Track(s)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Sound design in video \u2013 both music and sound effects \u2013 are extremely important because they make your video more enjoyable to watch. Try to imagine your favorite movie without a sound track.<\/p>\n<p>Although you can&#8217;t expect your videos to have the same budget, there are ways to find great music, and sometimes they are free.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve found and downloaded your score to a soundtrack library (as in step 3 above), follow the same process in step 3 to add the music to your movie timeline.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pro Tip<\/strong><em><strong>:<\/strong><\/em> In most video desktop apps (the ones that we\u2019ve tested or used) your imported sound files are placed in their own audio timeline, either above or below your video timeline. See the demo in the following image.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/adding-files-to-editing-program.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-13521 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/themes\/reco\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/adding-files-to-editing-program.gif\" alt=\"animated image of how to add music in editing program\" width=\"500\" height=\"313\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cut clips to the music&#8217;s beat<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In <strong>Module 2<\/strong> of the GoPro Video Editing Academy I particularly focus on this step because if you get it right, the chances of producing a high quality edit will be really high.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, it\u2019s good practice to use your soundtrack\u2019s audio cues \u2013 percussion beats, tempo changes, expressive instrumental riffs, etc. &#8212; as reference for your video cuts. Scan your video timeline, cut out the extra stuff and keep the most interesting parts. Arrange your clips to start and end on the significant parts of your chosen music. This is how you add even more character to your film.<\/p>\n<p>The following animation demonstrates this process:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/cut-clips-to-the-music-s-beat.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-13523 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/themes\/reco\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/cut-clips-to-the-music-s-beat.gif\" alt=\"animated image of how to cut clips to music\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Edit speed of video clips for Slow-Motion or Time-Lapse<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"EditingBody\"><span lang=\"EN-CA\">This step is only necessary if you shot at higher frame rates (e.g., 60, 120, 240fps) and want to incorporate <a href=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/gopro-slow-motion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">slow motion<\/a> OR if you have a long video and want to speed it up using a&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/gopro-time-lapse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">time lapse<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13534 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/themes\/reco\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/change-clip-speed-fcpx.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Apply Transitions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>By default, most editing software includes transitions. <strong>Transitions<\/strong> are used between cuts. You can adjust the length of a transition by using the mouse. Try not to use transitions on every cut \u2013 they look overdone and will likely ruin the flow of your video. Our favorites are cross dissolve, blur, and fade to color (typically black or white).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/adding-transitions-in-editing-program.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13531 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/themes\/reco\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/adding-transitions-in-editing-program.gif\" alt=\"animated image of how to add transitions in editing program\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Add Titles<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"EditingBody\"><span lang=\"EN-CA\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ProjectGO.clickfunnels.com\/pro-editing-pack\">Titles<\/a> are not only used for introductions and conclusion, but also to support your footage throughout the video, and to reinforce different messages. Final Cut Pro X (and most editors), by default, have a variety of titles you can use:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13532 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/themes\/reco\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/adding-titles-in-editing-program.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Color correct your clips or apply a LUT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"EditingBody\"><span lang=\"EN-CA\">Color correction is an editing step that can really make your film stand out. By hitting \u201ccmd+6\u201d on your keyboard, a color board will open up in the inspector (for Final Cut Pro X). From here you can boost the contrast, adjust exposure and make your colors pop by increasing the saturation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"EditingBody\"><span lang=\"EN-CA\">You can also apply our&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/gopro-luts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LUTs Color<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/gopro-luts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Gradin<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/gopro-luts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">g<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/gopro-luts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Pack<\/a>, which is designed specifically for enhancing the colors of GoPro footage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"GoPro LUTs Color Grading Filters [Download]\" width=\"719\" height=\"404\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A514eoOleiM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Review and polish your edit<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Details matter. Before exporting your final video, review your edit and take some time to refine the details. Double check to see if your cuts are synced up to the music perfectly; make sure your story includes an easily understandable introduction, body and conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>Did you over-use transitions? Are your audio levels consistent? Is your footage shaky?<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re happy with the results, you&#8217;re ready for the last step!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pro Tip:<\/strong> Before your final export, let your video sit for a full day. Chances are when you come back the next day things will stand out that you overlooked. After you make those changes, you&#8217;re ready to go.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Export Your Film and Share It<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Depending on where you plan to play your video, you have different formatting options.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Video and Audio<\/li>\n<li>Apple devices<\/li>\n<li>Computer<\/li>\n<li>Web hosting<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13533 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/themes\/reco\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"http:\/\/projectgo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/export-video-in-fcpx.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/p>\n<p>Each one has a different compression level. By selecting these options one-by-one you can preview the output file size before exporting. We typically select \u201cVideo and Audio\u201d because it provides the best balance of file size and video quality for YouTube and other online platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Choose the H.264 video codec. It provides the best quality for the size. And if it\u2019s available, choose \u201cH264 Better Quality\u201d rather than \u201cH264 Faster Encode\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Select a resolution that is compatible with where your video will be most viewed. For Youtube, and larger screens, use full HD 1080p or higher. For mobile devices you can go lower than full HD (720p) if disk space is limited.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it!
