The dual lens setup changes everything
The leaked test image shows a dual camera layout on the front – one wide lens and one telephoto. If confirmed, this would be the first pocket camera that is not locked into a single focal length. Every pocket camera before this has forced you to choose between shooting wide or cropping digitally – which means a real quality loss when you want a tighter frame. A proper second lens solves that problem entirely. You would be able to switch focal lengths or use optical zoom without the trade-off. For travel vloggers, solo creators, and anyone who has ever wished they could punch in on a subject without losing quality, this is a meaningful change.
Standard Pocket 4 vs Pro – two separate products
The Pocket 4 Pro is registered with the FCC separately from the standard Pocket 4. That confirms it is a distinct product, not a variant. The standard Pocket 4 looks like a solid refinement of the Pocket 3 – better battery, smoother usability, improved controls. The Pro is where the major changes are. DJI will likely launch the standard model first, with the Pro following. This is consistent with how DJI has handled split lineups before.
What we do not know yet
Specific specs – resolution, frame rates, sensor size – are not confirmed. Numbers like 6K video and improved tracking have appeared in leaks but should be treated as unverified until DJI announces officially. Price-wise, if the standard Pocket 4 stays in the Pocket 3 range ($500-700), the Pro version will likely land closer to $800-1,000 based on the scope of the upgrade. No confirmed release date, though a mid-2026 window is the current expectation.
Should you wait or buy the Pocket 3 now?
Die Pocket 3 is still an excellent camera. Image quality is strong, stabilization is some of the best available in this form factor, and it is available now at a solid price. If you need a camera today, are just starting out, or do not specifically need zoom flexibility, buy it – do not wait. If the dual lens system sounds like something you would actually use, and you can tolerate the uncertainty around timing and a higher price tag, waiting for the Pro makes sense. Just know that the wait is real – there is no confirmed launch date yet.
